Frequently Asked Questions 1. What is GasBankUSA? GasBankUSA™ is a membership based web site using a subscription model, the first of its kind that allows consumers, businesses, fleets, and over the road truckers to lock in a fixed price for gasoline and diesel. We've been developing this idea for the past year. With gasoline and oil prices in the news every day, we feel the time is right to see if our idea is as meaningful to the American public as it is to us. 2. How does it work? All members will receive a GasBankUSA Fuel Card after they sign up and their membership fee is processed. Members purchase gallons at the current GasBankUSA price. After the purchase clears, the gallons are deposited into the members' accounts. When members are ready to pump their fuel, they go to any participating location, which covers most of the nation's gas stations, and they can use their GasBankUSA Fuel Card to pump up to the number of gallons in their account. The members's accounts will be updated to reflect the withdrawal of the gallons that were pumped. Here are the 3 basic steps: Become a Member: 3. What types of accounts does GasBankUSA offer? GasBankUSA offers 3 types of accounts: Indivdual, Family, and Fleet. Individual Accounts 4. Where is the GasBankUSA Fuel Card accepted? The GasBankUSA Fuel Card is accepted at most of the nation's gas stations including all the major national chains. 5. How does GasBankUSA save me money? GasBankUSA allows you to purchase fuel at today's prices and lock in that price to get the fuel at a later date, at which time the price may be much higher. For example, let's assume you purchase 10 gallons at GasBankUSA when the price of gasoline is $4.00 per gallon, a total of $40. Over time the price of gasoline increases to $4.40 per gallon. If you then go to a participating gas station, you can use your GasBankUSA Fuel Card to pump the 10 gallons you have already purchased. Without the GasBankUSA Fuel Card, you normally would have had to pay $44 for that fuel, but you locked in your price early and only paid $40, a savings of $4. 6. Is GasBankUSA a financial institution? GasBankUSA is not a deposit of a bank and is not insured or guaranteed by the FDIC or any other government agency. 7. When will the site be live? We expect to be live during the fourth quarter of 2008. You can sign up for our newsletter and be notified when the site launches at http://www.gasbankusa.com. 8. Where can I check the GasBankUSA price? The GasBankUSA price will be posted at http://www.gasbankusa.com. 9. How is the GasBankUSA price calculated? The price is determined based on the national retail average of regular unleaded gasoline, as published by AAA. 10. When does the GasBankUSA price change? The price is updated on the GasBankUSA website at 6AM Eastern Time, seven days a week. 11. Can I buy more gallons before I use gallons already in my account? Gallons can be purchased and held until you wish to use them. There is no limit to the number of times you can purchase gallons. 12. What if gas prices go down? Gas prices fluctuate on a daily basis as will the GasBankUSA price. You are under no obligation to use your GasBankUSA Fuel Card until you are ready to do so. 13. If I have a problem with the site, what can I do? Once the site is live, you will be able to call or email our customer service department who will be able to answer your questions and help you with your issues or concerns. Multiple monitoring servers around the world run protocol based tests on our website continually 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year to ensure that customers and users can reach the GasBankUSA website. 16. How does the GasBankUSA Fuel Card work? The GasBankUSA Fuel Card works the same way as any other debit card, only it stores your value in gallons. The GasBankUSA Fuel Card can only be used to purchase fuel at participating locations, which cover most of the nation's gas stations. 17. Why is the GasBankUSA price different from the price of a gallon of gas at my station? The GasBankUSA price reflects the national average retail price of regular unleaded gasoline. Gas prices vary across the country, and within specific locations gas prices will vary from station to station. GasBankUSA deals with the price discrepancy by making adjustments when the GasBankUSA Fuel Card is used. If the price at the pump is lower than the GasBankUSA price, your account will be credited for the difference. If the price at the pump, including buying other grades of gas, is higher than the GasBankUSA price, your account will be debited for the difference. This way the savings will be exactly the same no matter how much you are paying for gas at the pump. 18. What happens if I still hold gallons in my account, but I choose not to renew my membership? If you notify us that you do not want to renew your annual membership, your GasBankUSA Fuel Card will be deactivated and you will no longer be able to use it to buy fuel at participating locations. You may request a refund, equal to the lesser of the value of the gallon ballance at the current GasBankUSA price or the GasBankUSA price at the time of purchase less any transaction fees. This FAQ is subject to revision at any time and should not be solely relied upon to purchase GasBankUSA gallons. Last revised 5/16/2008. |
